12/24/14 Being On The Same Frequency

12/24/14 Being On The Same Frequency

Broken communications (relationships) happen because people are on different FREQUENCIES.
Restored communications (relationships) happen when we are on the same FREQUENCY.

I like time travel stories, movies. Do you remember, "Frequency," with Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel? A father (in the past) and son (in the present), who had been separated by the father's untimely death, were able to communicate through a ham radio set, because of an aberrant radio frequency created by a strong Aurora Borealis.

Though this movie is fiction, there are some principles of truth.

We were separated from the Father because of our untimely death. Our death was due to our sin of closing our ears, our eyes, our hearts to the revelation and enlightenment and rule of God. We "tuned God out" and we "tuned Satan in." Whenever we are on any frequency, other than God's, we will always be out of communication, relationship, with God, AND we will also be out of communication and relationship with everyone else, including ourselves.

However, God transcends time. This is the story of Christmas. He inhabits eternity, but He traveled through time to restore, renew a relationship with those who manifest a godly sorrow for their behavior.
Isaiah 57:15
(15) For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

Once we hear His call, and heed His call, we are reconciled to God. Remember, many are called, but few are chosen. However, a right relationship, a continued communication with God is based on a current trust. We only have life as long as we are connected to Him through faith. Sin breaks the communications, breaks the relationship.

This is why God tells us to keep a good relationship.
Jude 1:17-21
(17) But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
(18) How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
(19) These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
(20) But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
(21) Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
