How sad for the parents who look forward to the beginning of another school year, so that they can be away from their children. It is even sadder for the children whose parent(s) want them to go back to school, so they can be away from their children. Maybe even sadder, that the parents don't know how sad their view and attitude is toward their children.

L said...As I stand talking with other mothers and our children are gathered around us, they find out we homeschool and they say right in front of their own children, "I could never homeschool!! We can't be together that much, we have to have our time away from each other. They'd drive me crazy!" I couldn't even imagine saying something so hateful about my children, but to say it in front of them totally blows my mind.

dlg... You are right. And sometimes they say they don't know how you can stand it. PIT EEE FULL.

M said... Thats why so many parents are in favor of year-round school. Just think of how little time parents and children spend together. Now think of how little is spent especially since laptops, smartphones and tablets have been on the scene. The little actual time they are under the same roof is still not spent together.

L said... Then the world complains about kids and their lack of respect and ambition and control. Let's not forget, most of that is due to lack of parental guidance, meaningful relationship, and discipline. They're practically raising themselves sometimes and copying an immoral society.

M said... But at least they are well socialized.

L said... Yes, remember the episodes of Star Trek and Twilight Zone where the children are socialized.
