02/03/14 DID YOU SAY YOU ENJOYED IT?

02/03/14 DID YOU SAY YOU ENJOYED IT?

As a child, I was taught to thank God for my food at the beginning of the meal, and at the end of the meal I was taught to say, "Excuse me (please); I enjoyed it." Concerning the end remarks, it was just good manners to ask to be excused and to give compliments to those who provided (daddy) and prepared the meal (mama). Man, I wish I could thank them one more time.

I am sure I must have said it in a perfunctory manner at some point, but actually, I did appreciate daddy providing home and food, and mom working hard at home for us. Daddy worked two jobs (or more) at times and mama cleaned, washed, cooked, ironed and did all the other things to make my life better.

To this day I usually tell my wife (and others) that I enjoyed the meal and thank them (from my heart) for their kindness. In fact, I do this with complete strangers when they do things for me. Don't forget to be gracious. Teach your children to be gracious. Don't miss your opportunity to recognize acts of love or even acts of required service. It shows the love of Christ, it lifts the other person and it enriches you.
