12/01/14 HEALING COMES THROUGH LOVE
My friend posted a drawing of one little penguin hugging another little penguin, with this text:
"One day someone is going to hug you so tight all your broken pieces will stick together."
Here are some thoughts I had.
* The ultimate healing hug comes from Jesus in the resurrection.
* Jesus gives us a redemptive healing hug that begins at salvation and continues throughout our Christian lives.
* Sometimes a healing hug comes from a friend or loved one. As followers of Jesus, God may choose to use us as an instrument of His healing hug, therefore we should be compassionate to others and obedient to the Holy Spirit.
* Sometimes the healing hug comes from the truly contrite person who did the breaking. Sadly, this seldom happens because the BREAKERS are usually so broken that they will not let God heal them and use them in the restoration and reconciliation. Sometimes they are not willing to make the needed restitution that facilitates healing.
If you have broken someone, through unkind words or hurtful behaviour, you need to humble yourself and let God heal you and then use you to restore others... before it is too late.
Remember, "I am sorry" does not pay the bill. It takes sacrifice to restore what we destroy, but with humble submission to God, we can do it.
