11/30/14 SWORDSMEN OF GOD

The Two Edged Sword is the Bible. There are various uses for a sword, but the most obvious use is to use it as a weapon. The Christian soldier uses his weapon in spiritual warfare, not physical battle.

The two sides of a conflict are the "defensive" and "offensive." Defensively we wield the word of God to resist the devil and resist temptation. "Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against Thee."
Offensively we wield the word of God to scatter and shatter the powers of darkness, and to set prisoners of sin free.

Few people are well trained in spiritual battle and swordsmanship, and as a result most believers fall when they are under spiritual attack.

Some Christians are familiar enough with God's word to repel a Satanic attack on themselves, but not equipped to attack the gates of hell and rescue the perishing.

Now is the time for Christians to take up the Sword of the Spirit, to use defensively and offensively (Ep. 6:10-18).
