11/30/14 DO YOU HAVE A TREASURE, ARE YOU DRIVEN

11/30/14 DO YOU HAVE A TREASURE, ARE YOU DRIVEN

Do you remember the desire that drove Charlie Bucket (and others) to find the Golden Ticket? Do you remember his excitement when he found it?

I often muse on the lack of drive in people to find God's Golden Ticket, or more accurately, "The Treasure" hidden in a field.

Mt.13:44
44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

The Treasure is not a mere pot or chest of gold or gems, but a rich, deep mine that is not yet discovered. People pursue the trashy and trifling treasurers of this world with all of their strength. They sell their goods, expend their energy, sacrifice their families, jeopardize their lives for the fleeting fancies of futility. But the Treasure of God has few seekers.

On the rare occasion, when a person has a driving desire for finding The True Treasure, it is even more rare for them to sell everything in order to purchase the field and dig up the Treasure. This Treasure is more to be desired than much fine gold and is worth all sacrifices.

Remember too, Charlie had the opportunity to inherit the company. This is also true for the person who finds God's treasure and digs it out. He becomes a joint heir with Christ and co-worker in sharing the treasure with other people. But this is the rarest person of all, the one who hears and heeds the call of God to selfless service.

So what do we have?
Undiscovered Treasure.
Unclaimed Wealth.
Unreached Multitudes.

The people perish for lack is vision.

There is room at God's table and in His field.
