11/16/14 How young is too young?

11/16/14 How young is too young?

In my early years I did not have people tell me that I did not actually get saved at three years of age. But of course, I did not know many people who knew what it meant to be saved. Then again how do you tell a little child that he does not really know Jesus, when that child knows that he knows Jesus?

In recent years I have had more than my fair share of doubters and critics, who say that a child that young cannot get saved; that a child that age cannot understand enough about salvation. I cannot help it that they were either slow in hearing God call them, or slow in answering God. But He called me, I heard Him, and He saved me. Then He called me to be a preacher when I was three years old. All of my children got saved between the ages of two and four. I can't remember, but I think all of my grandchildren believed on Christ before they were six years old. Maybe David, Mark, Lydia, and Joanna will remind me.

After we get saved, we must cleave to (continue in) the Lord (Acts 11:23), continue in the grace of God (Acts 13:43), continue in the faith (Acts 14:22).
As partakers of Divine nature, we must diligently add to our faith, virtue (goodness) and knowledge and self control and patience and godliness (God likeness) and brotherly kindness and perfect love (2 Pe. 1:4-7).
As God's children, we must build ourselves up in the most holy faith and keep ourselves in the love of God (Jd. 1:20-21).

It is possible to sin after we get saved, but it is also possible to go on to perfection (He. 6:1), but we need to grow in grace and knowledge (2 Pe. 3:17-18).

We must move beyond the basic principles of Christ (He. 6:1-2), including...
Repentance from dead works.
Faith in Christ.
Baptisms, such as Baptism...With Holy Spirit (Mk. 1:8; Ac. 1:5); Of commitment (Mt. 3:6-8), Of suffering and persecution (Mt. 20:22-23), Of death to self (Ro. 6:3-5; Co. 2:12; 1Pe. 3:21).
Laying on of hands.
Resurrection of the dead.
Eternal judgement.

Children can and should learn these truths early in life, but then they should be led into perfection;
Of love (Mt. 5:48);
Of commitment (Mt.19:21);
In praise (Mt. 21:16);
Of unity with God and the body of Christ (Jn. 17:23; 2 Co.13:11);
In the will of God (Ro. 12:2);
In the mind of Christ (1 Co. 2:6; Ph. 3:15);
In following Christ (Co. 4:12; He. 13:20-21).

PASSAGES...

(4) Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
(5) And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
(6) And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
(7) And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

We Must Build Ourselves And Keep Ourselves

We Must Move Beyond Basic Principles

(1) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

(23) And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.

Baptism of Death to Self (Old Man)
Romans 6:3-5

(3) Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

(5) For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

(12) Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
