10/17/14 WHICH CAME FIRST
During a discussion about the Houston attack on Christian ministers, I said to a fellow believer that even if there was no First Amendment, Christians must still obey God. My friend staunchly held to the idea that the best argument in our society is based on the 1st Amendment, since our rights are rooted in our Constitution. Though I agree with the Constitutional argument, I pointed out that our Constitution came into existence because preachers stood on Biblical authority.
THE BIBLE PRODUCED OUR RIGHT TO PREACH.
I pointed out that our foundation stone is not political but Biblical. I reminded him that Christians and churches have been losing rights, property, family and freedom in spite of the 1st Amendment. I also pointed out that Christians in the rest of the world do not have our Constitution, therefore they only have the Bible.
I also mentioned that Paul stood on his Roman citizenship when he was persecuted. But the first and final authority in a Christian's life is the Lordship of Christ and the word of God.
You might as well face it folks, your Constitutional rights are only in place, as long as the government says they are. Your Divine mandate is in place as long as God is on His throne.
