09/13/14 NEED READ HEED
You, yes you. You (like me) give your best to what you love. That is why Jesus gets so much garbage from so many people.
I really like to workout. I really like to play Pickleball. I really like to kayak and kayak fish. To be proficient and to benefit from these activities, I must give them time and energy, and I must focus and improve my skills. If I wanted to excel in any of these I would need to dedicate myself to a more intense involvement.
The same is true concerning a right relationship with God. Of course, the basis for true success in any relationship is love. I really need to love God. Jesus said we need to love God with ALL of our heart, mind and soul. Let's face it, very, very few people love God that much. God usually gets the left-overs or our love, and as a result they give Him scraps of time, very little energy, a fuzzy glance and nearly no commitment in pursuit of perfection. It is as if their mantra, concerning Biblical Christianity and salvation is, As Little As Possible, And Only When Necessary. In fact, most people who know about Christ do not even give God the left-overs, but rather the throw away garbage of their lives.
Today, right now is the best time to change this area of your life. Ask God to forgive you, cleanse you, enable and empower you to seek Him with your whole heart and serve Him with your whole self from this moment on. Please let me know if this helps you and if I can help you in your surrender to Jesus.
Sadly, there will be people who need this, but they will not read it. Sadly, there will be people who need this, and they will read this, but they will not heed this. Sadly there will be people who need this, read this, and they will take first steps toward this, but they will turn back. Do not miss the mark. Set your course. Stay your course. Finish your course.
When I address a thought to "you," I am referring to the "you" who needs it. As a believer, a follower of Christ, we do not take offense when we hear or read something that says, "you." If I am already in a living and loving and growing relationship with God, I understand that the appeal to, "you," is an appeal to whoever needs to receive the gift of salvation. I obviously am not saying YOU personally are not saved, unless you are not saved. This is simply me sharing with others what I have been blessed to receive. I am not calling people to my accomplishments, I am inviting people to the grace and mercy of God that was made available to me and all others, though the death and resurrection of Christ.
