07/30/14 TARGET FIXATION...

07/30/14 TARGET FIXATION...

When the pilot of a fighter plane fixes his sight on a target, and forgets to guide his plane momentarily, it can result in death. Either he is so focused on the target or he is watching to see if his ordinance strikes the target, but at several hundred miles an hour, he must not veer from his course for a moment. His present mission must not distract from his overall mission.

This also happens in the spiritual life of Christians. The believer can fix his focus on the momentary concerns, but forget to keep his life on course. This is true whether a person is a pastor or a parishioner. Focusing on the problems or even the possibilities, can divert attention from the ultimate objective. This is why the Christian life is not the life for a lazy, undisciplined person. We must stay the course to follow Jesus every step, while we also execute our daily assignments. The long term call and the present mission do not conflict with each other, but when one is sacrificed for the other, there will be confusion and loss.

Winning the world, while losing your soul is a disaster. Do not lose your family by trying to win the world, and do not ignore the world by idolizing your family. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will guide you and keep you. Seek God's wisdom, desire God's approval.
