06/25/14 DON'T REFUSE SALVATION
FACT... We can willfully REFUSE God's Son.
REMINDER... Those who willfully refused God's earthly messenger (Moses), did not escape God's judgment.
WARNING... We can willfully TURN OURSELVES AWAY from Jesus, but we will not ESCAPE (find safety through running away).
Hebrews 12:25
(25) See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
God tells us that it is possible to refuse (disregard, reject) Jesus (see vs. 24) through disbelief. If we are told not to do something, it is with the intent of keeping us from doing it, indicating that we have the God given ability to either reject or accept the words of Jesus, so that we might escape God's judgment.
Remember, the Israelites during the Exodus did not escape (seek safety by flight, run away from) the judgment of God (He. 10:28) when they rejected the leading of Moses (who was God's representative on earth).
God warns us, much less shall we escape (He. 10:29) if we "turn ourselves away," (which is more intense than "rejecting" or "refusing") from God, Who is speaking to us through His Son.
It is possible to willfully REFUSE (disregard, resist, reject) God's Son.
People who have willfully refused (disregarded, resisted, rejected) God's word, in the past, through Moses, did not escape (run from) God's judgment.
More certainly will we be judged if we willfully TURN OURSELVES AWAY from the Word of God, as revealed through His Son, Jesus Christ.
And, don't forget, this was written to believers.
