06/02/14 MERCY AND JUSTICE
Sometimes I see people rejoice in the suffering of other people, or hear them speak harshly, vindictively about those who are without Christ. While we should hate the sins of evil men, we (as Christians) must love the sinner. Not only is this often difficult, it is sometimes impossible.
Terrorists, child abusers, rapists, murderers, persecutors, oppressors are despicable, yet God loves them, Christ died for them and He enables us to love the unlovely and the unlovable. Without Christ we are all lost. We should have a sense of justice, righteous judgement, concerning the lowest of the low, but we must also have a heart of compassion for them. This does not mean we should exempt them from accountability in this world, but we must always have compassion for their soul.
We need God to occupy our hearts and guard our words.
