04/30/14 PLEASURE IN THE VILEST KIND OF SIN

04/30/14 PLEASURE IN THE VILEST KIND OF SIN

Self Mutilation, Self Harm and Self Injury are terms applied to the practice of inflicting injury and pain to one's self through various methods, such as cutting, beating, burning, hair pulling, scratching, and poisoning. These may not be intentional suicide attempts, but suicide (Self Murder) can result, just as it can through drug abuse, gambling, pornography, promiscuity, which are usually excused, explained and extolled by the people being held in their clutches. A normal, healthy person cringes at the very thought of such acts of self infliction. But the person held in the grip of such behavior finds pleasure, power and purpose in it.

I am just as amazed when I watch people, who know about Christ and His salvation, inflict themselves with the poison and butchering and abuse of negativity. They are venomous, critical, complaining, fault finding, angry, miserable, toxic. They scoff at the idea of living constantly, moment by moment, daily, in a loving, satisfied, joyful, positive mindset. Like those who are held captive by Self Injury, they may appear to be normal and they certainly think they are normal, but they are killing their chance at true peace, love, power, purpose and joy. They are also on an express track to eternal destruction.

They refuse help, thinking they are more in tune with reality and seeing the practice of Christian virtues as being pollyannish or weak or sissy or old woman or childish or unattainable. How sad that moments, days, years, lives, are wasted. And the tragedy is greater because the victim victimizes other people who follow in their steps.

Jesus saves His people from their sins, including the bondage of negativity. Look and live.

SALVATION?
Salvation is not me doing the best I can do. Salvation is the miracle of Christ in me, the hope of glory. Salvation is deliverance from sin and self deliverance. Salvation is not self saving self, it is self being saved by surrendering to the Savior (Jesus Christ). Salvation is not self improvement, salvation is the destruction of sinful self.
