If Jesus really did raise Himself from the dead, as He said He would (John 2:19-22), and
If He said he would raise all men from the dead, to either life or be punished (Jn. 5:21-29),
Then there is nothing of greater importance than preparing for that day.
Pleasures and agonies come and go, but eternity is forever.
Trust Christ and look forward to that day:
Refuse Christ and your miseries will only increase.
By the way, for those who remember that the Bible says God raised Jesus from the dead, you are right. But, remember also, Jesus is God (Jn. 1:1-3).
The Father and the Son (and the Holy Spirit) were involved in the creation of the universe, were involved in the resurrection of Christ and will be involved in the resurrection of the dead.
John 2:19-22
(19) Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
(20) Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
(21) But he spake of the temple of his body.
(22) When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
John 5:21-29
(21) For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
(22) For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
(23) That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
(24) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
(25) Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
(26) For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
(27) And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
(28) Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
(29) And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
John 1:1-3
(1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(2) The same was in the beginning with God.
(3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
