Even though a parent may have the freedom, the ability to raise children by his/her own rules, rather than raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (as taught in the Bible), a parent does not have divine authority to neglect or reject God's rule.
To raise a child according to any standard, other than God's revealed standard, is to contribute to the corruption and destruction of that child, for whom Christ died. This is why it is imperative for young marrieds and parents to seek the wisdom of the older women and men in the church on family life and child rearing.
To break free from Biblical relationships and child rearing is to separate yourself and your child from the safety of God's moorings.
