Isaiah 9:6-7
(6) For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
(7) Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
SO, WHO IS SOVEREIGN?
Sinning religion TALKS about the sovereignty of God, but Biblical faith WALKS the sovereignty of God.
God has clearly and consistently revealed His will for His people to,
Turn from sin,
Trust and Obey Jesus,
Totally yield and be purified,
Take up cross and follow Christ.
Yet, sinning religion would have us believe that God,
Abnegated (Abandoned) His Plan,
Abrogated (Changed) His Provision,
Abdicated (Renounced) His Position of Preeminence.
God Planned to save His people from their sins and purify them from the carnal mind, so that they would walk in a way that is pleasing to Him. God is sovereign.
Sinning religion says that God only saves His people from the penalty of sin, but not the power and the pollution of sin. It says that believers will never be delivered from sin in this life. Man is sovereign.
God Provided for the full salvation of His people, through the blood atonement of Christ; the indwelling, empowering and leading of the Holy Spirit; and the miraculous power of His word to cleanse and enlighten. God is sovereign.
Sinning religion says that God does not cleanse His people perfectly; that God does not empower them to walk in holiness and righteousness in this present world; that He does not deliver them from temptation; that He does not make them more than conquerors through Christ; that He does not enable them to walk in His triumph over sin daily. Man is sovereign.
God Predestined that His people would be a holy priesthood; sanctified entirely; a distinctive people who are zealous of good works; conformed to the image of Christ; being pure, even as Christ is pure; having this seal, that they have departed from iniquity. God is sovereign.
Sinning religion says that God allows sin, under the guise that Jesus has bought us the right to sin and still go to heaven. Man is sovereign.
God's sovereignty sets the standards and requires men to meet it, by His active, saving grace.
Man's sovereignty forces God to surrender to the power of sin and accommodate sinners.
Jesus did not come to abdicate His rule, but to establish it in the hearts and lives of His people.
1 Corinthians 15:25
(25) For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
Ephesians 1:20-23
(20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
(21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
(22) And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
(23) Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
