12/02/14 WELL PLACED CONFIDENCE

Don't forget, the great sin that leads away from God is PRIDE, exaggerated self esteem (Pr. 16:18; 1 Tm. 3:6). It is easy to cross the line from CONFIDENCE to CONCEIT, there is the danger of crossing from CONFIDENCE IN GOD to SELF CONFIDENCE. The Scripture says we should not think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think, but to think soberly (Ro. 12:3), and we should humble ourselves before God (1 Pe. 5:5-6).

Pr. 16:18
18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

1 Tm. 3:6
6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Ro. 12:3
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
