11/22/17 HOMESCHOOLING FOR MINORITIES

11/22/17 HOMESCHOOLING FOR MINORITIES

Here is a worthy project for some folks. There are some very capable people who could do a much better job than I can do, but I am available to be part of it, if God wills. It would be great to have homeschooling leaders/experts spearhead and steer this endeavor and it would be great to have some minority leaders who catch the vision, add their influence to ignite a fire.

This post is not an attack on well meaning parents who have not understood the importance of homeschooling, nor is it an attack on educators who are actually teaching their students, rather than being the State's Change Agent for "Progressivism" (humanistic secularism, naturalism, materialism, socialism).

PROJECT... Enlisting South Carolina (or your own State) minority families to become part of the Home Schooling movement.

I encounter and I hear about greater numbers of people who are becoming involved in home schooling their children, for various and valid reasons, but there is a lack of involvement by the minority communities. Here are two good reasons to home school.

#1
The negative and destructive, moral and spiritual impact that public school posits in the lives of children and young people for 6 hours a day, 180 days a year (not including time spent in extracurricular activities and homework) for at least 12 years, is immeasurable and often noncorrectable.

#2 The lack of actual education provided by public schools is robbing great numbers of students of their time, energy and opportunity. Remember, SCHOOLING DOES NOT EQUAL EDUCATION. The philosophy of modern education has been robbing American children of a sound education for decades and has been especially deleterious to children of color.

I know there are several variables that encourage and discourage the idea of homeschooling, including family income, number of parents in household, educational level of parents, vocational involvements of parents, region of household, locale of household, number of children in household, race/ethnicity of household, religious involvement of household, political view of household. Family values, work ethic, Christian worldview and a two parent home are major factors in stability and likeliness to pursue homeschooling.

However, the fact that homeschooling is a great benefit and advantage to moral, social and academic growth is not in question, except by those who are biased toward liberal, progressive, humanistic secularist and statist education, which has been failing for decades. There must be a way to provide this treasure to each household, where the parents want the best opportunities for their children.

I don't like the terms, but I use them for discussion sake. "African Americans and Hispanics" are the most negatively impacted by public education. Look at the racial make up of the Educational Rankings by State. The states with the lowest rankings generally have a higher percentage of these minorities. Like it or not, these states rank low because of high drop out numbers, which are more prevalent among minorities. This has to do with home and school involvement. This is why more minority parents should dedicate themselves to providing their children with the best education available, which is, committed homeschooling.

One Way To Start, Would Be With Seminars Or Workshops For Needy Parents.

Most of the "reasons" people give for not homeschooling their children are invalid, though they seem to be valid to the parents. If you don't do the research, if you don't talk to those who have blazed the trail, you will never take steps into the most important job you can do, which is train your children in the way they should go, rather than turn your children over to people who have been inundated with misinformation and faulty principles (regardless of how well meaning they may have been).
