The writer of Hebrews was concerned that the people were not getting beyond the basic, the fundamental, the foundational doctrines that are mentioned in Chapter 6.

Today most Christians don't even get to the fundamentals of the faith. If people treated the various associations and affiliations with the same disregard as they do the Bible and the body of Christ, there would be very few successful businesses, sports teams, schools, militaries, governments, hospitals still in operation.

Hebrews 6:1-2
1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
