11/11/14 BE SURE TO PASS IT ON

11/11/14 BE SURE TO PASS IT ON

As I have gotten older, and have tried to pass on the keys, tricks, secrets, hints of life to my family and my parishioners, I only wish there had been more people who had done the same for me.

My parents taught morality and the basics of courtesy and good manners, which are of great value.

I had an occasional teacher who took extra time to help me with the subjects that gave me trouble.

There were even fewer pastors that had any thing of real value to offer me (since they did not believe the Bible themselves).

My Bible college instructors made great contributions to my development.

Some young people are taught the ways of politics, economics, academia, business, sports, medicine, or a trade, which sometimes eventuates in a successful life.

However, the fundamentals of life, found in the Bible, inherent in Christ, found through faithful service to God, and the little nuggets of practical wisdom that take you beyond the norms of life are too seldom provided for young people.

Then there is the sadness of those who have the advantage of such mentoring, but ignore or discount it.

So, I have two thoughts.
1. Learn all you can from reliable sources. Be a listener, be a watcher, be a reader, be a follower, be a learner.
2. Share your insights and knowledge and experiences with others. It may help them avoid pitfalls. It may enrich their lives. It may give them just the edge to succeed and even excel.
