OK, I agree, sometimes there is a person who is totally out of control, who CALLS himself a Christian and does horrific deeds, such as kill abortionists, claiming that God told him to do it. But we all know that person is not representative of Christ or the teachings of the New Testament.
I agree, sometimes there are religious groups which are deluded and led astray by an out of control leader and they do horrific deeds, such as the Roman Church during the Crusades, and the Inquisitions, and the persecution of Bible believers; as well as Protestants in the religious wars with Catholics, or other Protestants, on continental Europe or in the isles of England, Scotland and Ireland, which continues to this day in the fight between Protestants and Catholics, killing and bombing in the name of religion.
But none of this wickedness can be traced back to Christ or the New Testament faith. On the other hand, Muslim violence is not just the act of unstable individuals, or groups led astray by a fanatic leader. Islamic violence is consistent with the life and teachings of Mohammed and the Koran.
I just wanted to remind us of reality, contrary to the revisionist history, which is promoted by politicians, educators, journalists and religious leaders. It is time to return to Biblical sanity. The Sword of the Spirit (the Bible) is the weapon of the Church, the sword of steel is the weapon of the State.
The Church is commissioned by God to offer life to the lost, even if it costs the believer his own life. The State is commissioned by God to take life, if it is necessary, for protecting the righteous and punishing the wicked. The State is the steward of Human Government (Ro. 13:1-4), and the Church is the steward of Kingdom Government (the Kingdom of God: Lk. 17:21; Ro. 14:7).
God has appointed Human Government for the present evil age, but He will replace it with Divine Government when He returns to set up His earthly kingdom.
