08/20/14 DON'T CROSS YOUR WIRES
God gave the right and the power to the State to protect the righteous and punish the wicked. God has used various tools throughout history. God's use of a tool does not imply God's approval of that tool for other purposes. Human Government (the State) is God's appointed tool for the present age. Human Government does not have the right to change the laws of God or resist God. Human Government does not have the right to take away the rights and responsibilities of family or Church, which are two other institutions of God. However, Human Government has often tried to usurp God and commandeer the family and the Church.
The government of the United States of America is obligated before God to protect our citizens from our enemies, and to punish those who are in violation of the moral code of God. Well, that has not been happening for some time and things are looking even worse today than yesterday. BUT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE GOD'S ORDER.
As Christians, we are expected to obey the State, when it does not conflict with the rule of God. When we are faced with either obeying God or following the State in an act of disobedience, we must obey God rather than men.
God gave the power of the sword of steel to the State and the power of the Sword of the Spirit to the Church. Christians are called to love even our enemies, and the State is expected to protect us. Two different entities with two different intentions. The State cannot be the Church and the Church (followers of Christ) cannot be the State. While I love my enemy and pray for my enemy, the State might need to bomb my enemy into eternity. I must not allow myself to become a hater of my enemy, but I must not stop the State from fulfilling its responsibility to God anymore than it should stop the Church (believers) from fulfilling its (their) responsibility to God. The State will ultimately fail. The Church will ultimately be caught away. Be strong, be vigilant, be ready, because He is coming back.
2 Peter 3:9-14
(9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
(11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
(12) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
(13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
(14) Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
