(your reasoning).
2 Corinthians 10:5
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Imagination can be positive or negative and either originate from yourself or from other sources, including God and Satan. It can either lead you to God or away from God. You decide what to do with the reasoning that comes to your mind.
Imagination can be activated and stimulated by your own musings, or by outside influences, or circumstances. Vain imaginations can be like voices in your head.
This is why we are told to try the spirits.
1 John 4:1
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
These voices can be theological, or philosophical, or informational, or relational. Voices often times impersonate either one's self, or God. This tends to give credibility to the voices. Once a voice is given credibility (as self or as God) it is almost impossible to refute. Giving heed to a deceptive voice can take you down a path that leads you away from the way of God. Even if you get to heaven! You may have years that were wasted and lost.
Remember, Satan comes as an angel of light, pretending to be a bearer of truth.
2 Corinthians 11:14
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
These voices want you to believe what is not true. This brings suspicion, confusion, and division, in both personal relationships and corporate relationships. If these voices are trusted, they can bring divisions that are never corrected or healed. Minor suspicion, confusion, and division will lead to deeper problems that can become unfixable.
