07/28/14 YOUTH SHOULD BE LEARNING FROM AGE

07/28/14 YOUTH SHOULD BE LEARNING FROM AGE

One of the great advantages of old age is the wisdom and understanding that is gained. One of the great disadvantages of old age is the lack of opportunity to use that gained wisdom and understanding. (Wisdom and understanding being the ability to use the knowledge gained during that time.) Or, as the old Pennsylvania Dutch saying goes, "Too soon oldt, too late shmardt."

Of course, there is always the possibility of passing this premium insight to younger people. But then we are brought back to to the second part of the saying... "too late shmardt."

Then again, maybe we are limited in our development because we listened and followed what the old guys said... hehehe.

I just wish I had listened to old guys a little more, at least in the areas in which they were expert. But, you know what? Most of the old guys I knew were not interested in really passing on their gained information.

Proverbs 1:8
(8) My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Proverbs 2:1-9
(1) My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
(2) So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
(3) Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
(4) If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
(5) Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
(6) For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
(7) He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
(8) He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
(9) Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

Proverbs 4:10-13
(10) Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
(11) I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
(12) When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
(13) Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.

Proverbs 4:20-22
(20) My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
(21) Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
(22) For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
