07/17/14 CHECK YOUR CALL

07/17/14 CHECK YOUR CALL

The CALL of God is to HOLINESS.
1 THESSALONIANS 4:7-8

(7) For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
(8) He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

Hebrews 12:14

(14) Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

1 Peter 1:15-16
(15) But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation (conduct);
(16) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

UNDERSTAND YOUR CALL.
Holiness is both a pure HEART and clean HANDS.
Psalms 24:3-4

(3) Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
(4) He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

James 4:7-8
(7) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
(8) Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Holiness is a pure HEART and a pure LIFE.
2 Peter 3:11

(11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation (conduct) and godliness,

Holiness is what you ARE and what you DO.
Romans 6:22

(22) But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Holiness is ATTITUDE and ACTION.
2 Corinthians 7:1

(1) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Sinners are cleansed from unclean deeds.
Saints are purified from double mindedness.

Consider this passage...
Titus 2:11-14
(all of this, but especially vs. 14)
(11) For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
(12) Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
(13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
(14) Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

After being justified, we detect an evil heart of unbelief that wants to depart from the living God (He. 3:12). The good news is that God will not only forgive our sins, He will cleanse (purify) us from all unrighteousness (1 Jn. 1:9).

Hebrews 3:12

(12) Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

Hebrews 10:22-23
(22) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
(23) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

1 John 1:9
(9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
