07/01/14 THE MENTAL ILLNESS MYTH

07/01/14 THE MENTAL ILLNESS MYTH
I addressed this issue briefly in the previouis post, but I was wondering...

How many other pastors warn their people and teach their people, concerning the mental illness myth?

How many have learned about the treatment of "personality disorders" and "mental health problems" from the Biblical point of view, as opposed to the secular/humanist point of view?

Of course, this kind of query will be seen by very few folks, since I am not sure how many of my FB friends actually "HIDE" my posts anyway. (At least they are kind enough to have me as a friend, hehehe).

PASTORAL WORK...
As a Christian, I publish/herald truth to my society (3D and 3W), but I can only pastor (shepherd, lead, feed, protect, shear) those who are part of my congregation.

Everyone needs to be a responsive and responsible part of a local body of believers. They need to have a pastor that applies Biblical truth to every area of life and to every relationship.

I often see people in need, and I often share Biblical truth with them, but pastoral authority and counsel are special privileges reserved for those who are subject to one another in a local body.

The Christian experience is a unified lifestyle, which needs the wisdom of a shepherd rather than the insights of a cadre of experts (as in "conferences," "workshops," and "retreats"). We (pastor and parishioners) can learn from others, but God's plan for local church authority and accountability is the Biblical way of the local body of believers.

It is sad that very few people have a pastor they can trust to lead and counsel them in the various areas of life. It is also sad that some people have valued pastoral leadership, but still choose to be their own shepherd, circumventing the plan of God.
