MESSAGE...
God has apprehended (laid hold) of us, and we now need to apprehend (lay hold) of God.
God is the original pursuer.
God sought Adam after Adam sinned.
God (the offended) seeks us (the offenders), NOT TO DESTROY US, BUT TO SAVE US.
We deserve, and will receive judgment, if we do not receive His offer of salvation.
Jesus came to SEEK AND TO SAVE THAT WHICH WAS LOST.
Jesus was apprehending us,
so that we might lay hold of Him.
We were the criminals, on the run;
He was the Rescuer in pursuit.
Isaiah 55:6-7
When God apprehends the sinner, He tells the sinner to SEEK GOD while He may be found and CALL ON HIM while He is near. The offer can expire or be cancelled.
The wicked must forsake his way, behavior, life; and the unrighteous man must abandon his thoughts, inner desires.To return to God is to find mercy, to return to God is to find abundant pardon.
Jeremiah 29:13
Those who seek God with the whole heart will find Him. It is possible to not respond to God's call. It is possible to give a half hearted response to God's call. God withheld nothing when He sought us, we can withhold nothing when we seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6
The only acceptable, effective way to seek God, to lay hold of God, is through faith in the completed work of His Son. God rewards the person who seeks Him diligently.
