Wow, such emotion filled words. Please consider these 3 uses of the phrase. Possible, Personal, Paul's.
1- Possible Uses of "Time of Departure."
* When a BALL GAME is down to the last minutes, the Players Give Their Best Remaining Effort.
* When a CONCERT is about to end, the Audience Savors Every Last Line And Note.
* When A CHILD MOVES AWAY, the Parents Grasp At The Fleeting Moments.
* When a LOVED ONE TAKES A LONG JOURNEY, we Strain To See Them And Wave, One More Time.
* When A LOVED ONE IS ABOUT TO DIE, we Hold On As Long As We Can.
2- Personal Use of "Time of Departure."
Think of your personal Time of Departure in terms of either,
"Countdown to Blastoff" (RAPTURE) or,
"Time is Running Out" (DEATH).
In either case, it could be imminent, without warning, without time to prepare.
In either case, it is inevitable.
In either case, it is forever.
When it happens we want to be found faithful, productive, growing. We want to do the best we can with what we have.
3- Paul's Use of "Time of Departure."
2 Timothy 4:6-8
(6) For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
(7) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
(8) Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
