02/28/14 YOU MIGHT LIKE THIS...
(six thoughtful questions from a 6 year old during Wednesday Night Bible Study).

I had shared some verses on righteousness;

he raised his hand and asked...
#1 What Is Righteousness?
I responded by presenting him with a simple, ethical dilemma, and asked him if it was right or wrong. He said wrong. I explained that righteousness is being right in our heart and doing right things.

I quoted Ps. 24:3, which begins with, "Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord;"
he raised his hand and asked...
#2 Are There Hills In Heaven?
I explained that people use to come to God in the Temple in Jerusalem, and that the Temple was on a hill. Now we come to God, Who is in heaven (which is higher than the earth); and the only way to come to God is if we have clean hands (do right things) and have a pure heart (have a right heart; have Jesus in our heart).

I talked about evil men sometimes do "good" (nice) things, but they are not actually good unless they are Christians;
he raised his hand and asked...
#3 What Is Evil?
I referred back to the idea of "right and wrong" and pointed out that doing wrong and having a wrong attitude and not obeying God is evil.

I quoted Is. 64:6, and said that when unsaved people do good (nice) things, they are still unrighteous;
he raised his hand and asked...
#4 If Bad People Do Nice Things, Do They Get To Go To Heaven? (he turned to his mom and asked about doctors).
I told him, "No." The only people who go to heaven are the people who have Jesus in their hearts.
He asked...
#5 Why Do Bad People Do Nice Things?
I pointed out that some people think they can get to heaven by doing nice things instead of loving and believing in Jesus, but they can't.

I talked about witnessing to my friends, because no matter how nice they are, they need to have Jesus in their hearts; he asked...
#6 Did Your Friends Get Saved?
I answered him and pointed out that we need to tell our friends about Jesus.

Wow, that was church.
