Question...
According to the New Testament, when does the word of God not profit someone?
Don't peek at the answer. See if you can remember it.
Tic toc tic toc. The sound of the Jeopardy theme playing softly in the background.
Okay, time is almost up.
Okay, I hope you had a chance to think about it before the answer shows up here.
Answer...
When those who hear it do not mix (commingle, combine) it with faith.
Hebrews 4:2
(2) For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
This is how important it is for you to believe. You have a choice. If your faith is weak, ask God to help you with your unbelief.
Mark 9:23-24
(23) Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
(24) And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
